Field research at Lake Bâlea
At the beginning of July, members of the research group went on a field trip to the Fogaras Mountains and collected surface non-biting midge (Chironomidae) and diatom samples from Lake Bâlea, as well as assessed the recent vegetation around the lake. The study of the current ecological conditions will provide important evidence for the assessment of remains from the sediment. Gusztáv Jakab collected bryophyte samples from different habitats in the field. The occurrence of several special arctic and alpine moss species has also been proven. During the visit, a discussion was held with members of the research group of Professor Alfred Vespreamu-Sorte (Bucharest).
