New postdoctoral fellow appointed by the DOMINO-CLIMATE project: Marina Vidhya

We are pleased to inform you that Marina Vidhya joined the DOMINO-CLIMATE team in February 2024. Marina graduated from Slovakia and completed her PhD there in 2023. At the Earth Science Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences she analysed fossil diatom assemblages in alpine lakes of the Tatra Mts. and reconstructed limnological changes in the last 15000 years. Additionally, she worked with humic lake sediments to understand its developmental process from oligotrophic to dystrophic state using subfossil diatoms as proxy.

In scope of this project she will have to analyse fossil diatom assemblages and d18O isotopes on diatom extracts from 2-3 Holocene alpine lake sediment cores (South Carpathians, Pirin Mts, Durmitor Mts) and carry out quantitative pH and available P and water depth reconstructions with high resolution over the 4000-8500 cal yr BP interval.
