Report from the Conference - 22nd International Symposium on Chironomidae (ISC22)
Representing our team, postdoctoral researcher Aneta Formáčková attended “The 22nd International Symposium on Chironomidae” and presented her work titled "Holocene Chironomid-Inferred Mean July Temperature Reconstruction from Lake Bâlea (2034 m), Southern Carpathians." Her presentation took place on the morning of Monday, June 17, during the Paleoecology session at the University of Niš.
Aneta's presentation highlighted the findings of a paleolimnological study of Lake Bâlea, focusing on the remains of aquatic insects, primarily chironomid headcapsules. She discussed the stratigraphy and changes in chironomid assemblages, and how these findings contribute to reconstructing the lake's ecological aspects during the Holocene, including summer air temperature reconstructions.
The symposium and workshop provided an exceptional venue for sharing the latest research findings, debating the ecological impacts and environmental changes over millennia, and exploring new methodologies within Chironomidae research. We are pleased that a member of our team had the opportunity to present our project data and contribute to the dissemination of knowledge on this topic among colleagues in the field.
