Uncertainty of plant hardiness zone maps – new publication
Plant hardiness zones are used in many areas, including forestry, agriculture and horticulture. Plant hardiness zone maps are easy to interpret, but are fraught with uncertainty. The importance, and even the inevitability, of representing these uncertainties in maps is highlighted by Ákos Bede-Fazekas, senior lecturer of our department, in a recent scientific paper co-authored with Imelda Somodi, senior research fellow at the Centre for Ecological Research. The review article was published in the journal Applied Geography, which is ranked the prestigious D1 category in both forestry and geography/planning/development scientific areas.
