The National Energy and Climate Plan should be rethought

A new paper by the Energy Geography research team was published today, which is a comparative analysis of three very different energy scenarios. One of the new features of the paper is the hourly simulation of electricity supply and demand using EnergyPLAN software for all three scenarios. The research demonstrates that the National Energy and Climate Plan should be rethought to increase the share of decentralised renewable electricity production. Priority should be given to a rapid expansion of wind power capacity by at least 10-20 times, complemented by biogas-based flexible energy supply.
