Compositional diversity of landscapes at multiple scales – new publication

The 7-102 room of the southern building was named after Pál Juhász-Nagy. This name, or even the JNP monogram, is well known by all the biology students in Budapest and Debrecen. The doctoral school of biology at the University of Debrecen was named after him, who was the member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and a professor at the Department of Plant Systematics and Ecology at the ELTE. But why is it worth knowing him for us, geographers? Anyone who reads the new scientific paper published in the prestigious (D1, IF = 5.2) landscape ecology journal called "Landscape Ecology", will immediately find out the answer. Ákos Bede-Fazekas, senior lecturer of our department, also participated in the research led by doctoral candidate Krisztina Dóra Konrád. The article shows how the math models created by Pál Juhász-Nagy for small-scale vegetation science, i.e., the so-called JNP functions, can be successfully applied at landscape scale in landscape ecology.
